Jen will be starring as nineteenth-century abolitionist Mary Merrick Brooks in an upcoming period piece about African American educator and abolitionist Ellen Garrison in partnership with “Half the History.” “Half the History” is an organization that produces films and podcasts sharing the untold stories of significant women from marginalized communities throughout history. As Mary, Jen will share the screen with other members of the Concord Female Anti-Slavery Society as the film chronicles Ellen Garrison’s life, from her childhood as the daughter of a formerly enslaved man in Concord, Massachusetts through her career teaching African Americans to read and write in the antebellum South.
